JEAN-LUC OICLE
DIRECTOR

Jean-Luc Oicle is a franco-albertan writer & director. His background in spirituality inspires his work, where his interests lie in exploring the nature of human suffering, humanity’s connection to self and to nature, and man’s deep desire for self actualization. His work explores the human condition through wildly textural and sensorial visuals, with a style rooted in movement and emotion. His distinct visual style stems from his background as an award winning cinematographer, and his passion for analog photography. His desire to bring story and deeper meaning into his work has led him to study screenwriting at Concordia University, a crucial step towards mastering his craft. Jean-Luc is currently writing a feature length bodybuilding drama titled Blast and Cruise, with the support of the Alberta Foundation of the Arts writing grant.

Jean-Luc’s most recent work includes the short film titled Triality, a medium bending piece on the transformative power of meditation (Finalist at the Buenos Aires Film Festival 2025), the Cirque du Soleil RAW commercial series (featured on NOWNESS and shortlisted at the Berlin Commercial Film Festival 2024) and the experimental short film Surrender, that has been screened in festivals across Canada, Europe and The United States.
